A pair of melons

A pair of Yubari melons were sold for record high Y2.5 mil (S$32,845) yesterday. This is amazing because they were S$6,500 more than last year's record. However, unlike vintage wine, such melons can't be kept for long. Apparently, they were well known for their extraordinary sweetness and fragrance. Yet, many cried foul over such a ridiculous price. Who would pay such money?!
This is at a time when we have the situations in Sichuan and Myanmar when aids trickle in and thousands and thousands are suffering and pained by the calamities.
Where's the balance? Where is the proprietary ownership to these problems? Let's not point fingers, let's ask: what am I doing about those situations myself?
