Love is multi-faceted, they say. Two jewelry companies fought over the patent for love. One company called Love & Co. was brought to court by The Carat Club for a court injunction to forbid each other from using LOVE with their jewelry. Can't imagine that a simple English word that does not in the first instance mean jewelry can be patented to refer to it exclusively. Well the lawyers challenged that since Apple can patent a common word, why not love be patented?
What can simple everyday words mean now? Words like service or give, for instance? Who cares, anyway? Do you? Do I?

To fight for exclusive right to the use of such common word is indeed crazy. Reminds me of the ban imposed by the Malaysian government on the printing and importing of Malay Bibles which contain the word "Allah"...even though it has been proven that the term has pre-islamic origin!
